Architectural Technician/ Senior Architectural Technician

Reports to: Managing Director

Position Overview

The (Senior) Architectural Technician plays a key role in helping turn the concept into reality. They are concerned with the technical side of design and ensure that a functional building performs successfully. They make sure the right materials are used and that Building Regulations are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Giving support to the senior team members and clients in order to deliver projects
 Producing information for planning applications and other regulatory application procedures
 Assessing what surveys (e.g. land surveys) are required before work can commence and ensuring such surveys are undertaken and their results fed into the project
 Developing project briefs and working on these as the project progresses
 Preparing and presenting design proposals using computer aided design (CAD)
 Contributing to detailed design process and coordinating design information
 Liaising with appropriate authorities (e.g. planning enquiries and building inspectors) when producing documentation for statutory approval
 Producing, analysing and advising on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used
 Carrying out design stage risk assessments

Essential Qualities/ Experience

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Computer literate, particularly conversant with Autocad
 Flexible and responsible for own work load
 Organised and self motivated
 Good personal presentation
 Confident
 Ability to manage clients and projects through the office

Other Attributes Required

 Ability to be creative
 Previous experience (Senior min. 10 years)
 Suitable qualifications
 Flexible in a changeable environment
 Ability to be the client contact
 Project management
